Cake
Aggie's Cakes and Pastries-A+
Although we didn't get to eat any cake at the wedding (too busy talking to guests) the cake was beautiful and tasted great according to all of our guests. Prices were reasonable and the ladies at Aggie's were nice to work with. I recommend the red velvet cake with cream cheese filling! Grade: A+ (cgrzona)

I really thought I was going to be thrilled with this bakery. They make truly beautiful cakes and our tasting was super delicious. Everyone was great to work with.
BUT when it came to the wedding day I was dissapointed. First we had rented a tree stump stand, which did not show up with the cake. My MIL sent the driver back for it and he came back with an ugly wooden thing (not a stand) that resembled a fence around around the bottom of the cake. Also the design on the cake was all wrong. It was still very pretty but we specifically said we did NOT want that design!! When my MIL called the next day to complain, they did return her money for the stand rental, but the woman said it was becoming too much of a hassle to rent it and she was going to stop doing it. Ok, but you already rented it to us! Wtf? Also they did give us a $50 gift certificate to the bakery to make up for the wrong design. We love the pastries so we were happy for the gc, but it wasn't the best solution considering it just brings them more buisness, no real loss to them. As a day to day bakery I would definitely recommend them, but for a wedding cake, proceed with caution! (Oh but the cake was delicious on the wedding day) (newmrsdayton)
A Little Slice of Heaven = A
Lynn Reimer heads Little Slice of Heaven, baking wedding cakes out of her lovely home in Oconomowoc. Her prices were more reasonable than store-front bakeries, and I knew her specialty, the champagne cake with raspberry filling, was THE cake when my guy and I went to the tasting. I don't even like cake (not kidding) but liked this one. Then at the wedding, I got several compliments on how good the cake was, one guest told me it was honestly the best wedding cake she's ever had! Not to mention, the cake was beautiful. Brookfield Wedding Cakes
MUST MUST MUST taste these cakes. Absolutely the best wedding cake I've ever had in my life. People are still gushing over the cake. (jennya.esq)
Cakes by Dea, Marengo, IL: A
Beyond fabulous. Dea executed our creative vision perfectly, and the cake was DELICIOUS. We had a chocolate and yellow cake with vanilla carmel latte filling, and a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, and everyone raved over it. She also created a great groom's cake for us! Dea also did my sisters wedding a few years ago. Her prices are extremely reasonable and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a cake. (gadragonetti)
Cakes by Stephanie A
Stephanie did a great job and her cake tasted amazing!!! Everyone raved about how great the cake was. Now before I booked Stephanie I was a little wry because of the mixed reviews on her. She is slow to reply to emails but if you call her and shes not home she'll call you back that day. She also has another job so you must take that into consideration! She was very nice to my mom and I and had 3 different kinds of cake with different frosting for us to sample. The cake looked exactly how we wanted and you cant beat her price! (navybride11)
Cheesecakes by Jewels Racine (A)
This used to be a shop in downtown Racine but she has recently closed her retail location, now doing cakes (I think mainly cheesecakes but she might still do traditional wedding cakes) out of her home. We sampled cakes at Bridal Cakes by Ann in Kenosha and at Courtyard Catering. Both of which had excellent cakes. Ann was a little standoff-ish though and we got mixed feelings from her. The lady at Courtyard Catering was flakey and couldn't find the notes from our consultation on one occassion, and then on a second occassion, she called and left me a message again as if we had never talked so she scared me away! Jewels cake was fantastic and MUCH more reasonably priced than the other 2. I wanted a layer of chocolate cake with beer buttercream filling and she was excited to do this for us (Ann outright said no, and Courtyard wasn't sure). All 3 flavors we got were great and she was open to any design we wanted. Our wedding was outdoorsie so our cake was on a tree stump with our initials carved into it and had a moose wedding topper. She was excited to do something original and it turned out great! She was easy to deal with and I can't wait to eat our anniversary cake!! :) (cc7003)
Craig's Cake Shop - A+
Not only was Craig a very easy-going guy, the cake was DELICIOUS!! We got several compliments on the cake as well as its decoration...and it was quite affordable! Easily one of our self-proclaimed best decisions of the wedding planning process. We had also considered Chris' Confections, but had several problems with her (she canceled our appointment by mistake, didn't apologize, was quite rude, not very accommodating, etc), so we're glad we went with Craig instead! Elizabeth's Cakes (Sciortino's Bakery) A+
Delicious! Everyone says that their cake tasted so good, but ours was amazing. It literally melted in your mouth! They also had non-traditional flavors, which made it much more interesting. (Jcrew_Shopaholic)
Extra Special Touch Bakery; Waukesha, WI
We had Diane step in to make our cake after our original cake baker fell ill and had to leave the industry due to some serious health issues. Our cake was delicious, and looked perfect. The only thing that concerned me was that Diane didn't always respond to our e-mails, but the cake was there on time and everyone said it tasted amazing. I had two bites of it...but the two bites I had were delicious!! (SweetCharade)

Cake for 120 people
I grew up with this cheesecake because my grandmother owned it in the 80's and 90's. This is by far the best cheesecake in the world. She was easy to work with but very busy. She does a lot of the deliveries her self so randomly stopping by isn't always a good idea. We gave her a picture of what we wanted and she re-created it perfectly. (MelissaSavin)
Grand Geneva (Lake Geneva) (A+)
Delicious. I had given vague descriptions of what I wanted and the pastry did not disappoint. The cake was moist and delicious and the frosting even better! (LegallyRedSooner)
HyVee Madison, WI: A
Solid A for these folks. They listened to our thoughts/wants and delivered everything perfectly. The flowers were gorgeous and the cake was delicious! It was definitely nice to have things coming from the same place - they were wonderful and delivered on time! The only small complaint was a little lack of communication with what needed to be returned for flower rentals but that seems like nothing in the grand scheme of things :-) (bonniejwilliams123)
KATEE KAKES - A
Katee was great. She made about 300 cupcakes for our wedding in different flavors. I saw multiple guests get seconds and thirds and even take some home. (Ottecl)
Metcalfe’s Sentry Foods (Cakes): A
We ordered 35 single-layer cakes (~$11 each) for the tables in various flavors (all with white icing so people didn't know what flavor they'd get) - we talked to the bakery department 2 months beforehand and they had us call 2 weeks before the event to place the order. Cakes were delicious - process couldn't have been easier! They delivered as well right to our venue in town. (mdlorenz)
Milwaukee Cupcake Company, Milwaukee WI (A)
Debbie was so easy to work with and handled our special requests superbly! Our wedding was closer to Madison, WI and a bit tricky to get to but our cupcakes were delivered on time and with care. We've been a longtime customer of MCC and all of our guests were raving at how amazing they tasted! (texy72)
Milwaukee Cupcake Company A+
www.milwaukeecupcakecompany.com/
We opted for a cupcake tower with a small cutting cake on top. Not only were the cupcakes delicious, the whole process was hassle free from tasting, ordering, and set up. Debbie at Milwaukee Cupcake Company was such a huge help and offers a wide variety of Towers and set up options for cupcakes/cakes. We loved them. HIGHLY recommended! (MissBNicole)
Monzu Bistro (Green Bay, WI) - A+
Where to begin…I know several knotties heard me say that from the taste test I had dreams about my cake - I wasn’t joking! This was our second last taste test and I was alright with some of the places, again, I am not a big buttercream girl but I knew I could scrape off the frosting. Then we got here. I didn’t even get to try the first flavor and my husband was three flavors in with no sign of slowing down! (Other places I had to beg him to try something…not here).
We sat down and went over the details with Jennifer she gave us tips and hints to help offset the cost, make sure we had even flavors (as we wanted that), design…everything. She drew on the spot the scroll design that would be on the cake and had all the details down – including my zombies, which she got a kick out of. Best of all she came in under budget of several other places that were “ho hum” for cakes. We took some samples to our parents and my dad who also isn’t a big cake person was thrilled about this cake which was also rare (but in a good way). The buttercream is very light and not super sugary since it is more of a European style.
Our cake was three flavors:
Triple Vanilla Crème Brûleé
Yellow Cake soaked in Caramel Bailey's and vanilla with a vanilla bavarian buttercream and, covered in vanilla buttercream
White Chocolate Raspberry
White cake soaked in Chambord, White chocolate ganache, Raspberry buttercream
Java Explosion
Chocolate cake soaked in Espresso, Chocolate gaanche, Espresso buttercream
I HIGHLY encourage Monzu cakes. In fact we are in the habit of stopping in to grab some cake when we are in the area, not that I am complaining.

A small 2 tier cake and 19 dz cupcakes in 6 different flavors. Spectacular taste, nicely displayed, easy to deal with and a flipping steal! I would recommend them over and over! (lovey1111)
Runaway Spoon (Green Bay, WI) - A
Alright no logo here because you have to see the work they did on the groom’s cake. My husband was absolutely thrilled. We did a taste test with Lindsay to determine who would do our wedding cake. I am not a huge fan of buttercream but with costs involved we decided on buttercream instead of fondant.
She has a great pink champagne cake, and the amaretto was also amazing. We also tried the intense chocolate but it was pretty intense! Lindsay was a front runner for our wedding cake most definitely. During our meeting Lindsay was great – she was excited was doodling up ideas and left us with a pretty good idea of cost. We didn’t book anything at the time as this was the first cake tasting appointment we had and several others were planned that weekend.
While we had someone else do the wedding cake I know my husband really really liked the amaretto cake at Runaway Spoon so we decided to split the difference and have them do his groom’s cake. I emailed some ideas (and there was a little delay) but got a mock up back via email and the cake looked just like it! Our wedding party and rehearsal dinner attendees were astonished by the cake – it was as good as it looked and the look on my husband’s face was priceless!

Simma's Bakery (Milwaukee, WI) - A
We got the cheesecake, and it was delcious!! Everyone commented that it was so good and a unique choice for a wedding cake. It was also a beautiful cake that was exactly what we had designed. They were great to work with during the planning process too. (eshaufle)
Suzanne's Sweet Artistry Deforest: A+
I actually found this lady when I went to a bridal show with my friend when we were planning her wedding. I had used her to make a strawberry daquiri cake for my friend's shower since she loved it. Everyone loved the cake and she didn't cost much so I wanted to use her for my wedding too. She has you pick some flavors and fillings from her website that you want to taste test than you go to her house to taste them. My husband and I loved the three choices that we tried. We wanted to do sheet cakes instead of a tiered cake so we were able to do all three choices for our cakes. My husband had picked out a cake topper where the bride is fishing and catches the groom (he is a bigger fisherman) so she had the cake look like she was fishing him out of a lake. The other two cakes went with the snowflake theme. Everyone gave rave reviews of the cake and kept going back up for more pieces. We will definitely use her again if we need a cake for anything else. Walmart (C) (27th St, the one in Oak Creek) When I went to pick it up the night before, it wasn't ready at the time promised. So making an extra trip back was a little annoying. The second trip back, my heart fell to the ground. I wasn't happy the way it turned out. The cake decorator came out and told me immediately she wasn't happy either and that it was definitely not her best work. Basically, the pearls (tiny circular dots on the edges) were much bigger than they should have been and the frosting just wasn't very smooth. They offered me the cake half off, so I took it.
When I got it to the hall, I placed some leaves made out of gum paste that I ordered from an ebayer. This made my cake look 100 times better and I received many compliments on it. I would just say that Walmart's definition of white cake is yellow to me; but I confirmed that it was indeed white cake. The butter-cream frosting was awesome and the cake was moist. So no complaints there. They are really reasonable for a "wedding cake." I honestly can't say that I would still have gone somewhere else if I would have had a crystal ball. The extra touch of adding my fall leaf cake decorations really did the trick. (KatoNorway)
