A Wall of Sound ACA entertainment B+
This band was so much fun to dance to and they sounded great! The only thing I have to complain about is their breaks were about 40minutes long. While they had a fun DJ thing set up to still keep playing music, I had paid for the band to play. Reguardless they sounded great and everyone really loved them. (navybride11)

Cannot say enough great things about this DJ. He was there to answer all my questions about wedding planning, not just music/DJ'ing. Again, he does by event pricing rather than by the hour. He did our ceremony music too and kept the party hopping all night. No way we could have picked someone better. We had family and friends telling us all night how great the DJ was, and the event staff/catering staff even told us how awesome he was! (jennya.esq)
Carol Christensen-Racine Symphony Orchestra (A)
Was super easy to work with. We hammered out most details through email (my preferred contact method!) She was understanding the morning of when I called her and warned her that although she requires a tent for shade for her instrument, the wind was tearing ours up and we though we weren't going to have one. (cc7003)
Celebrations DJ - A
I initially went with Celebrations because they were one of the less expensive places in Madison, but ended up really liking working with them. For a DJ we got Justin, and he was great. He played stuff that got people out on the dance floor, and was helpful with leading the night without being obnoxious. I really liked him. Overall they were very easy to work with. My only negative is that at first they got our contract wrong, but it only took a phone call to straighten out, and they admitted that it was there mistake. (hmholden)
Double Platinum DJ Service - A+
Bill Spindler – Owner www.doubleplatinumdj.com [email protected]
Unlimited time DJ service
Bill, the owner was our DJ the day of but I would have trusted any of his crew. He was really easy to work with and made our party amazing. I have heard of some people paying $600 for a DJ and they sucked, were rude and wouldn’t take requests. With this type of vendor, you get what you pay for. We paid a little over $1000 for his service and I wouldn't have it any other way. We received a discount on an added service (DVD player for our slide show) from our referral. He gave us a book of popular wedding songs that had a couple sheets about the day's events so on the day of...he knew everyone's name, the order they went in, the songs we loved (must plays) and the songs we HATED. He kept everyone on the floor all night. (MelissaSavin)
Double Platinum - B
We booked Double Platinum because of their rates and because we didn't need any crazy lighting, etc, due to the nature of our reception space. They provided both some ceremony music and the cocktail/dinner/dancing music. Our DJ was Allen. I was told a week before my wedding that he would call to confirm details...well, he didn't do so until the Thursday night before my Saturday wedding...and we were at the Badger game so missed his call....then again on Friday evening while at our rehearsal dinner. I ended up finally catching up with him while on my way out to go bowling with my bridesmaids Friday night. He did a fine job...there was a time when the music cut out suddenly during dinner and another time when he interrupted the second-to-last song to announce and play the last song of the night. He also ran the anniversary dance waaaay too fast, in our opinion (married less than a day, married for 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, 25 years, 30 years, 40 years...it was done in like 1.5 minutes) and was hard to understand over the PA system sometimes. However, he did play the music that we asked him to and was good about playing requests. (jenmurray2)
Flipside DJ Services, Milwaukee, WI: A
Dan Palmisano owns Flipside as a side job, and he was a dream to work with and his execution was spot on. He did both the sound system for our ceremony and the reception music. He listened very carefully to the genres of music we wanted and played a perfect mix. We received rave reviews on our music from everyone. Dan went above and beyond for us, and his prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. I would highly recommend Dan and Flipside. (gadragonetti)

Tom was a great DJ and had all our guests on the dance floor while past Midnight. Nothing but great things to say about them. Professional, guest friendly and very lively. (samanthajeremy)
JosB from Racine (A)
We are very familiar with this band and used them to play cocktail hour music at the park. Our guests thought it was a great touch. They're a little more upbeat and play things like Marvin Gaye, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, ....maybe not typical cocktail hour stuff but definately a fun band to get the party started! People even did some dancing at the park! (cc7003
Jukebox Bandstand, Madison, WI (A)
Our DJ was Todd and he did a great job handling all of our special requests (we had a lot!) and he also ran our ceremony music perfectly! The dance floor was always packed and he even played a few extra songs at the end of the night. He stayed in good communication with us all night on how things were going too! (texy72)
Kyle Feerick A++++
Kyle is a local musician that my husband knew. When we told him we were engaged he mentioned that he has been DJing weddings in addition to playing shows. We met and the decision to go with him was easy. Not only did he DJ the reception, but he also sang and played the guitar for us as we walked down the aisle. He gave us a huge list of songs that he could play acoustically, and even offered to learn one of our choosing. He also gave us a list of all the music that he has on vinyl, and any requests were just given to him the day of on an ipod and he was happy to play them. He played a great blend of upbeat, funky, old -school classics that everyone loved. He was amazing! Message me if you need any more info! (emelizabeth85)
Midwest Sound = A+I booked Midwest Sound despite mixed reviews from messaging boards like this. I went with them anyway because their price was unbeatable, and I am not disappointed in the least! Our DJ, Alfonso, was the best! He communicated everything with me and my husband throughout the night, coordinating things so I didn't have to worry about it. And when the Cupid Shuffle came on, he was out on the dance floor with us! Loved him! :) (nonandj04)

They were prompt, sound and lighting were good. Price was great! Their online tools for planning and choosing songs (must play, do not play) were so awesome, easy to use and fun to do. My only complaint is that I made a special request to have a song played and dedicated to my Mom and Mother-in-Law from me which the DJ discussed with me in advance and never played. Overall, a good experience and good job. (alessner)
Midwest Sound Waukesha: B
I found this company while at a bridal show with a friend. I had gotten price quotes from them as well as another business that my sister had used and found this one to be more reasonable. They give you a list of the music they have and have you chose music from there that you want. We liked that you also got to chose if you wanted certain dances that some people have at weddings or not like chicken dance, cupid shuffle, etc. There are some dances that we don't like so we liked that we could say not to do them. The DJ you get calls you the week of the event to go over everything. One problem my husband had with the DJ was that we had picked some country songs to play (including our first song) and they sent a DJ that doesn't like country. He also thought that we wanted country played the whole time but we informed him that he should play other music too as we like other music too. He did a great job of keeping people on the floor and dancing. I don't think I ever really saw the floor empty. People were always out dancing which we loved. I had told him whatever goes for the garter toss so he had my husband get on the bar and dance to earn the garter. Everyone loved it and thought it was hilarious. We had a great time the whole time. (hinkelcl28)
Midwest Sound, A
I'd read a few negative reviews about them, so was hesitant, but I could not have been happier. Alfonso did everything right. I would not hesitate to recommend them. (teconley)
Midwest Sound; Waukesha, WI I'd heard Midwest Sound at a few friends' weddings, and they always seemed fine to me. I got nervous because I had read a few negative reviews here on the Knot, but Kevin was fantastic. He called me a few days before the wedding to introduce himself and make sure we were on the same page which was awesome, and he put up with me when I couldn't remember the song I wanted for our last dance (turned out it was Save the Last Dance for Me, but the Michael Buble version). I was really clear with him that I didn't want any group dances unless my guests requested them, but under no circumstances was the YMCA, Chicken Dance, or Bunny Hop to be played. We ended up having the Cha Cha Slide and the Electric Slide played, which was fine because the floor was PACKED during those songs. There was one moment where the music went dead (I think it was actually during the Electric Slide, which made me laugh since I'm really not a fan of the group dance type songs) and as soon as it was back up he sought out me and my husband and was super apologetic, which was sweet but in my mind totally unnecessary since it was hardly noticeable. However, I was amazed by how willing Kevin was to go above and beyond for us. When we got to the hall, we weren't quite sure how to go about getting in and handling our grand entrance, he ran out in the rain and climbed in the limo with us and helped us orchestrate and pull off our grand entrance. He was fantastic, and the dance floor was moving all night long. (SwwetCharade)
Midwest Sound--Although we didn't get to talk to our DJ until the Monday before our wedding, we were pleasantly suprised with how well everything turned out. The DJ played all of the songs that were requested upfront and kept everyone dancing. For the money and discounts received due to the off season, I have no complaints. Grade: A (cgrzona)
Midwest Sound Entertainment: B+
The only reason I couldn't give an A for them is one hiccup in the middle of the evening. Multiple guests had asked the DJ to play a song - and he hadn't so they came and asked me. I went to talk to the DJ and he told me that he would play it if I wanted but decided to tell me that " it is highly inappropriate for a wedding". I was quite irriated by this for a moment - he ended up playing the song but was a bit rude about it - everyone loved the song (its nothing bad... top 40 LMFAO song) Other than that he was great - gave us 1.5 hours extra cocktail hour music and kept the dance floor going almost the entire evening! (bonniejwilliams123)
MUSIC MASTERS ENTERTAINMENT - Lars - A+
Lars was amazing! I can not say enough about this DJ. He owns his own company and takes great pride in what he does. He has an online planning tool that really helped us when picking songs. His pricing was amazing, some of the best pricing we could find for a full day. I don't think that there was a time when there wasn't someone on the dance floor. We even got comments after the wedding about how great the dinner/dance music was. (ottecl)
Radioactive DJ Milwaukee B
Our DJ was Chris Morgan and all in all he did a good job, everyone was up and dancing all night and he played geat music. But he asked us to make a list of 10-20 "must play" songs, we picked about 15 and I think he played maybe 2. Plus he totally missed our cake cutting song (James Taylor, How Sweet it is) and played some random song instead. (newmrsdayton)

Out of Racine. 3rd family event we've used them for! Debi and Gail are fabulous! I have a crazy family and these are the DJ's for us. For what may be a slightly higher price (I never priced, I knew this was my DJ, booked as soon as we had the date), you get a full on DJ, emcee, dance lessons (if you want them), ceremony music (we didn't use), boxes of props (blowup guitars, hats, feather boas, maracas) and other stuff I can't recall off hand. Plus, we added (additional cost) the photo booth, which was a HUGE hit. They were totally professional, displayed good judgement, made it all about us and what we wanted to hear, played the appropriate requests, helped time everything out and created a timeline for the evening that didn't interrupt anyone's good time. No babbling on, just played!!! I cannot, CANNOTeven imagine hiring anyone else and by the end of the night, they were out of flyers because our guests loved them too! (lovey1111)

Ben was just awesome. He played music that kept the dance floor packed all night. He had no problems coming up to me and asking how things were going and if the song selection was ok, etc. When I told him that I wanted to keep things more current or had certain requests, he accomodated them right away. We wanted to keep the party going all night!! My H and I went to Indiana and we wanted to do an alumni picture...he even found our fight song to play for us during the picture quickly! (eshaufle)
Velocity (ACA Music & Entertainment): A+
We really wanted a live band for our wedding but had a tight budget to stay within. Velocity provided 3 hours of awesome, dance-floor-filling entertainment for less than $2500. The band (from Milwaukee, but willing to travel) has a great song list to look over, and once we gave them a general sense of the type of songs we liked and which ones we wanted to leave out, they created a set list that stayed pretty true to our wishes. The floor was full the whole time the band was playing, and everyone had wonderful things to say about them - we even have friends who got engaged just after our wedding who are interested in booking the same band. We only wish we had booked them for longer that night! (mdlorenz)
