Alterations
Alterations by Joyce: A
Located in Amelishan, Joyce did a beautiful job on my dress and was very pleasant to work with. Sharon altered the MOB dress and was great as well. They also except the "reward" card from Amelishan. (lovey1111)
Becky's Custom Sewing = A+++Probably one of my favorite vendors. Maybe my favorite, I don't know, but she is AMAZING. She came highly recommended to me right here on this Wisconsin wedding board. The shop owner at Kay Bridal had sent me first to her go-to wedding gown seamstress Mary Robbins, who quoted me at over $600 for alterations. No thanks! So following the advice of my fellow Knotties, I took the gown out to Becky in Bay View, who said it wouldn't be any more than $200. She did a FANTASTIC job on my gown, it's seriously unbelievable! Took it down from a size 10, replaced the zipper, sewed in bra cups, created a beautiful French bustle, and pressed it all for the grand total of $135. I cannot recommend her enough. (noonandj04)
Fig Leaves A+ (in Dover, off Hwy 20 between Waterford and Racine) Carol and Virgina are partners who work out of Virginia's home. They are both so kind and very reasonable. It was about $105.00 to shorten 6 layers of fabric, take the dress in about 1 1/5" in the center, add a slip underneath (so the itchy crinoline material didn't drive me yup the wall), and pressed it. When I went for my second fitting, the dress fit like a glove & I was able to take it home right then. They have an awesome way of wrapping the dress in a bed-sheet so that it won't get all wrinkled or damaged for the big day. (KatoNorway)
Lee's Alterations - B+
With only a month left until my wedding, I turned to Lee's Alterations in Eau Claire to get my dress altered (add a simple bustle and hem the front). They did a decent job, considering that wedding dresses are not "their thing," if you will, but they got it done very fast (within 2 weeks) and it looked good. Originally, I had taken my dress to Caron's Alterations in Brookfield...she was very friendly and we set up a second appointment for me to come back with my MOH so that she could learn how to use the bustle. I drove the 3.5 hours from Eau Claire to Brookfield to have this appointment...and she wasn't ready for us. In fact, she insisted that I had never set up an appointment and she hadn't even STARTED on my dress (it had been 2 months). My mom ended up dropping by and picking up my dress (and deposit!), hence me bringing it back to Eau Claire to get it done there...I just wasn't comfortable leaving it in Brookfield again and did not want to make that drive if I didn't have to. In the end, all worked out, but again...unnecessary stress. (jenmurray2)
Magic Moments - Marshfield, WI Very quick turn-around on the alterations. She altered my dress, a bridesmaid dress, and my junior bridesmaid dress. Willing to work with a payment plan if the alterations amount is too high and you cant pay all at once. The only drawback with this place is that the person who does alterations is only in on certain days at certain times - so you have to plan accordinly. (mrsweber11)Sisters on Main in Cross Plains= B
Because of location and previous expereince I went back to Kathy who was great to work with but in my opinion, more than pricey. I paid over $150 in alterations for a 1/2 inch hem, bussle and her to put in breat cups. I used the shawls from my bridesmaids' dresses (also from Brides'N'Bells) for her to make my flower girl dress which she charged over $100 for. In the end, you pay the price and everything looked great but was by far a bit overpriced. (samanthajeremy)

The fittings went really well. Sue was awesome and fun to talk to. The only problem I have is the price. She told me $325 would be the final price and when I came to pick up my dress it was $485!! I paid it, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time that the price may go up a little bit. (navybride11)
